Coaster - Leek Staffordshire - Rudyard Village
This coaster features a vintage photograph of Rudyard Village, Leek, Staffordshire.
Rudyard Lake is a reservoir that was created to supply the Caldon Canal. The village of Rudyard as we know it today is largely the result of the building of the reservoir, and came to be at the end of the 18th century.
Before this time Rodehyerd, or Rudierd as it was known, consisted of scattered farms and a small number of more substantial residences, such as Rudyard Hall.
